The best way to style a vintage item is the way it was worn at the time it was in fashion. If you cannot do that, then you can improvise but keep in mind the principals of its contruction and don't deviate a lot from them.
Here we have 3 pairs of semi-hoops of 1978 in graduating sizes in black/red/white, made of highly polished hard plastic, in a very crisp geometric line, without metal findings showing. They look very versatile, but they are not if you want to fully benefit from their line: they are made of plastic, which means they are not suitable for winter, they are too geometric, which means not good with flower prints, they shine, which means not the proper earring for sand-washed and distressed fabrics. They are meant for city wear. What you need are clothes in clear lines, made from fabrics that don't cling to the body (if not stiff enough to hold an ironed pleat), in solid colors or equally geometric prints.
The problem is that it is quite difficult to find clothes like that today, almost everything has elasthan in it, or it is made from some kind of knit. So, what can we do about it? We compomise. We wear those earrings in 2018 with white jeans in straight line (not skinny), if possible from raw denim, neatly hemmed and a sleeveless popeline shirt of a suitable solid color, or stripes/dots in the color of the earring. Wear the shirt tucked-in, put a scarf as a head band, your big sun-glasses and you are good to go, properly dressed.
That's all.
